Susie Brooks (born 1969) is an Illustrator and Printmaker living in Wiltshire. Her work is based around drawing and recording landmarks; a journey, memory, map, or postcard of a special place. Places are the focus of Susie’s drawing as they prompt memories of significant times and people. She uses a variety of tools when drawing for printmaking; dip pen for silkscreen, needles for drypoint and etching, and pipettes for spit bite aquatints. Susie’s work has been published extensively since graduating but recently she has returned to her roots of making small editions of prints by hand, giving herself time to experiment in the processes, relearning and revisiting printed paper collage with the drawn or etched line. All of Susie’s print process is now hand made. Holding a BA in Illustration and a Masters in Multidisciplinary Printmaking she has exhibited at Art Fairs worldwide, her prints are in the permanent collection at Chippenham Museum, her work is well known in South West and London. She now draws from her garden studio near Bath, and prints at Spike Print Studio in Bristol where she is enjoying sharing skills and ideas with other printmakers in the open access facilities.
