John Dilnot’s interests stem from childhood memories which he combines with an interest in exploring our relationship with nature. Dilnot was drawn to printmaking early on, making his own screen print table in his parents garage while a teenager. With a love of colour he continues to screen print. With a particular interest in nature and our environment current work explores these themes. For example ‘Forecast’ depicts a variety of oversized rainy weather symbols which are overpowering tiny cottages set in a pastoral landscape. The subject is not only the weather but also the changing patterns and unpredictability caused by climate change and the power that nature can impose upon us. Dilnot studied Fine Art Painting and Postgraduate Printmaking at Camberwell School of Art. He received a research and development grant from the Arts Council in 2017. He has exhibited in many mixed exhibitions and solo shows, including Screen Print 2024, Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, Of Green Leaf Bird and Flower at Yale Center for British Art, Natural History -solo show at Rebecca Hossack Gallery. He has work in numerous private collections and public collections include The Tate Gallery, MOMA New York, Yale Center for British Art USA and the V&A Museum.
