Aubrey Laret

£0.00
Aubrey Laret lives and works in London. He began making art after 20 years in advertising, both as a response to the nature of his profession and to explore the new art of digital image making. His work is held in private and corporate collections and he has exhibited at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, The London Group Open 2017, The Arterie Gallery South London, Bloomsbury Art Fair, Affordable Art Fair, Delphian Gallery Open call, London Design Festival and The Football Art Prize. He was selected by Julian Cox Chief Curator at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco to show at ‘The Art of Photography’ at the Institute of Art in San Diego, California and is a regular contributor to The Terrence Higgins Trust Auction at Christies, London. Artist Statement My work explores the unique physical characteristics of digital images i.e. pixels and jpeg artefact as well as the necessary restrictions on quality in order to distribute them digitally. I am interested in the processes used for making digital images - from digital photography to the making of images using computer programmes. Working in advertising has influenced the graphic quality of my work and as a result, most of what I do is print based using the rich quality of digital print - the flatness of the surface and the intensity of colour. This combination of print and digital reflects the world we live in where modern media shapes the reality of our world. "I believe that art is first and foremost a visual experience and the physical sensation of looking drives my art. "
